K-F Life

After School

After-school care and extracurricular activities are vital parts of the K-F program. They allow children to test and stretch their interests and talents in new ways, while making new friends and learning valuable social skills.  In the Upper Division, extracurricular activities are also considered an essential piece in the college applications process.
Special Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be offering after-school programming at this time.

The descriptions below apply to programs as they have run in the past. Costs and activities listed were for the 2019-2020 school year. We will update this page for the 2021-22 school year as more information becomes available.

After School for Grades ECD-6

The heart of our after-school program for Grades ECD-5 involves AfterCare and Mini Courses, which are fee-based and generally run Monday through Friday, from September to June (except during school vacations). AfterCare is available from school dismissal until 6 pm; Mini Courses typically run from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm.

The AfterCare Program
The Kew-Forest School’s AfterCare Program was developed to meet the needs of families who require child care after the school day is over. Our AfterCare Program provides a safe, secure, and enriching environment in which children can grow socially, physically, emotionally, and academically.

Mini Courses
Mini courses are special courses that meet once or twice a week and introduce young children to a variety of activities that help build confidence and skills. Offerings typically include activities such as Chess, Lego Robotics, Cooking, Soccer, or Acting. For a complete list of current Mini Courses, download the After School Information Packet to the right.

AfterCare & Mini Course Registration
Children may attend AfterCare on a full- or part-time basis; each Mini Course runs for approximately one trimester. Information and registration materials are sent to K-F families in the fall and right before sessions start, or you may download them from the Downloads section located on the right-hand side of this page.  If you need additional information, please contact our Director of Auxiliary Programs, Ms. Jennifer Woerner at 718-268-4667 ext. 108 or jwoerner@kewforest.org.

After School for Grades 7-12

Each year, students in Grades 6-12 are encouraged to participate in a variety of extracurricular clubs and Community Service activities. At Kew-Forest, After-School activities are viewed as important not only for skill-building, self-discovery, and social/emotional growth, but also because they play a vital role in the college applications process.

Each year, there is a special “Club Sign-Up Fair” in September, when students can meet the faculty advisors and members of the clubs and teams that interest them. In addition, while most extracurricular activities begin after 3:30 pm, there is a special “Club Period” during the school day when students can engage in meetings and work on various projects for their clubs.
