Take the E or F train to the Union Turnpike/Kew Gardens station. When you exit, walk toward the south Side of Queens Blvd. at Union Turnpike (Chase Bank and Starbucks are landmarks). The Kew-Forest School is one block south from this point. Proceed to the primary entrance with the Kew-Forest awning, ring the buzzer, and you will be granted access by the receptionist who will alert the Admission Office of your arrival.
Take the Grand Central Parkway and get off at the Queens Boulevard exit (#15). Follow the signs for Queens Boulevard staying the far left lane. Make the first available left turn and get into the local lanes for Queens Boulevard heading in the other direction. In three blocks at 78th Avenue, turn right and proceed up the hill for one block. The school will be sitting to your left. Follow the fenceline behind the school and enter the school's parking lot. Entrance to the school is on Union Turnpike, so it will be necessary to exit the lot (left) and walk around the building to this entrance.
Take the Grand Central Parkway to the Queens Boulevard exit (#12). Stay on the service road until it ends (about six blocks). Traffic must turn right on 78th Avenue. Drive along 78th to Queens Boulevard, cross the Boulevard, and continue up 78th Avenue on the other side. On the second block, you’ll see the back of the school to your left. Follow the fence to the Visitor Parking Lot.
Once you arrive at Kew-Forest, please enter the school at the Union Turnpike entrance. Ring the bell and the Receptionist will buzz you into the building and ask you to sign in.
If you have parked your car in the school lot, you will need to buzz twice to enter the building: once at the electric door between the Visiting Parking Lot and Aldo’s Green (the small garden beyond the gate), and then at the Aldo’s Green entrance (the back entrance to the building). Once inside, take the door to your immediate left and follow the short hallway to the receptionist desk, where you will be asked to leave your keys. You will be given a "Guest" badge and the party you are to meet will be called to greet you. Your “Guest” badge must be worn prominently throughout your stay in the school.
When you have finished your visit to Kew-Forest, return your badge to the Receptionist, sign out, and exit through the doors on Union Turnpike.
Please Note: The Kew-Forest School is open from 7:30 am to 6:00 p.m. on school days. There is no entry after 6:00 p.m. unless special arrangements have been made in advance with a school administrator.
Where to Park When You Arrive
As in all New York City neighborhoods, parking is tight in and around Kew-Forest. We ask that visitors be patient about this situation and plan enough time to find parking when visiting the school. Also, please note:
On school days, a limited number of spaces are available in the Visitor Parking Lot (to your immediate right, as you enter through the 78th Ave gate of the school). If you are driving and using GPS, type in the address: 111-05 78th Avenue Queens, NY. That is the address of a house across the street from the back of the school, but will navigate you to the entrance gate of our parking lot. If you park in the Kew-Forest lot, you are required to leave your car make and license plate number with our Security Guard upon entrance to the school.
If you arrive during morning drop-off(7:40 a.m. – 8:10 a.m.): the 78th Avenue electric gate will be open for cars and pedestrians, and school personnel will supervise.
If you arrive during the school day (8:10 a.m. – 2:25 a.m.): visitors must call the reception desk by phone and identify themselves and the purpose of their visit, in order for the electric gate to be opened. The main K-F phone number is on the sign on the outside of the gate.
If you arrive at dismissal (2:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.): the 78th Avenue electric gate will be open for drivers and pedestrians, and school personnel will supervise.
When leaving the parking lot by car when the electric gate is closed: drivers must follow the instructions on the sign on the inside of the gate. These instructions direct the driver to pull forward slowly and stop as the gate activates. Once a car passes through, the gate automatically re-closes. The electric gate has sensors and safety features which prevent the gate from closing on a vehicle.
If you cannot find parking at Kew-Forest or on the nearby streets, there is a convenient parking garage under the black glass office building off Queens Boulevard, just past Union Turnpike. The entrance to this garage is at 84th Road.
