In honor of Veteran’s Day this past Sunday, the Lower School honored two veterans from our community at their assembly last Friday: Russel Goeller (Brewery-Keenan-Heisser Post 31815 American Legion) and Paul Schottenhamel (Joseph B. Garrity Post #562 American Legion).
On Saturday April 14th, the Kew-Forest Archery Team competed in their 4th New York State Championship. The team was tested as the competition lasted over 9 hours! Our Jaguars were victorious on several fronts.
This month, the Middle School Track Team at The Kew-Forest School competed in their first meet of the season at the NYCAL Middle School Invitational at Astoria Park. The Jaguars braved a cold and windy afternoon as they ran sprints and middle distance races.

This month, juniors and seniors from our psychology class spent a full day at Spectrum360 (formerly The Children’s Institute - a program for children, adolescents, young adults and adults on the autism spectrum and with behavioral and related disabilities).
In January 2018, Kew-Forest’s Model UN Club attended the Harvard Model United Nations Conference (HMUN) at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. This year’s conference brought together more than 3,300 students from nearly 200 secondary schools and 40 countries to grapple with some of the most serious challenges in international relations - global security, economic hardship, the refugee crisis, and climate change to name a few.
Congratulations to our students participating in Mock Trial and Dr. Spelman for their victory over the Razi School earlier this week. With Tuesday’s victory, Kew-Forest advances to Round 5 with 15 other schools.
Congratulations to our Model UN Club for completing an outstanding season this year! After having great experiences and earning five individual awards at Model UN Conferences at the University of Virginia last November and Harvard in January, the Club attended the Philadelphia Model UN (PHILMUN) in early March, earning the title of "Outstanding Small School!"
On Thursday, August 31st in the Lower School Professional Development Sessions at The Kew-Forest School, Ms. Lowery and Ms. Brooks led a refresher course about the Columbia University Teachers College Units of Study in Writing program.
Last month (November 17-19), Kew Forest's Model UN Club participated in high quality committees at the Model UN conference hosted by the University of Virginia, earned awards and visited the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center.
Kew-Forest was in top form before a federal judge last Thursday at the Thurgood Marshall US Courthouse against HS of American Studies at Lehman College. The judge said he would be honored to work with any of our students inside his court room after their outstanding performance.
