Passing Of Former Headmaster,
Philip V. Rogers, Jr.
(1935 - 2019)
It is with heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our beloved former Headmaster, Philip V. Rogers, Jr., who died suddenly on February 15, 2019, at the age of 83 years.
Phil Rogers, a graduate of Trinity College, joined The Kew-Forest School as Assistant Headmaster in 1973 and served as Headmaster from 1974-1999. The quarter century of his leadership was a period of profound growth for Kew-Forest as he oversaw the construction of a new building to house a Library, Art Studio, Study Hall, and additional classrooms; the creation of a new state-of-the-art Science Lab; and the development of a multifunctional play yard and playing field.
Mr. Rogers' distinguished career included serving as Head of the New York City Guild of Independent Schools, Head of the Middle States Association, and Chairman of American International Accreditation Association. Closer to home and heart was his service to The Kew-Forest School.
Mr. Rogers will be missed dearly by all who knew him. We mourn his loss and celebrate the great impact that he had on Kew-Forest students, faculty, and staff over the years. We are in touch with Mr. Rogers’ family and will be organizing a tribute to honor his life, legacy, dedication, and loyalty to The Kew-Forest School. Exact details will be shared at a later date.
The Rogers family has confirmed that no funeral or memorial service is planned. If you would like to send a condolence card to his wife, Claudia, and their family, please forward to our Advancement Department, at:
