Social Emotional Learning & Support

At Kew-Forest, we employ the RULER program created by Yale’s Center for Emotional Intelligence. RULER, an evidence-based approach to social-emotional learning created by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, supports our school community in building the skills of emotional intelligence. RULER Is an acronym for the skills of emotional intelligence: recognizing, understanding, labeling, expressing and regulating emotions. Students participate in workshops with the Middle & Upper School Counselor to foster an awareness of their emotions, understanding how emotions influence us and how using this information can help us make wiser decisions.
