Fostering a Lifelong Love of Learning Since 1918

The Kew-Forest School is the oldest independent, coed, college preparatory school in Queens for students in Preschool through Grade 12. Families and staff represent 70+ nationalities and speak 30+ languages.
On September 25, 1918, nearly one hundred and five years ago, The Kew-Forest School opened its doors for the first time to local youth from Kindergarten through high school with 50 children in attendance on opening day. Its stated mission was “to exert all its energies, to use every means at its command...to make every child an efficient worker, a helpful citizen, and a power for good.” Those ideals are still relevant today. The Kew Forest community nurtures lifelong learners from around the world. Educators inspire young people to think boldly and find their voices. Students support each other and explore thoughtfully as they shape the future. The
Kew-Forest School is rich in many traditions and for generations students have proudly carried on a legacy of light-hearted competition and camaraderie as members of either the Red or Blue Team, based on their school colors. Each family is assigned a color and over the years, the teams have gone head-to-head in areas such as academic achievement, talent, fundraising, and, most notably, during Field Day held each May. Their school mascot is the jaguar.
According to Ms. Tiffany D. Trotter, who was recently named as the 10th Head of School: “I find the biggest inspiration and fulfillment at Kew-Forest in working with a multi-talented and high-achieving team of administrators and faculty that provides individualized attention to both challenge and nurture our students’ academic and personal development, helping them discover who they are and who they want to be. Our graduates are resourceful, resilient, and ready to impact the world for good.”
When asked to share an interesting story about her school, Ms. Tiffany D. Trotter, spoke of the most celebrated personalities to live in Forest
