Students who sign up and receive parental permission for the field trip will participate in a youth walking tour in Manhattan to learn about the history of LGBTQIA+ activism in NYC.
Organized by the Minoru Yasui Legacy Project and the Japanese American Museum of Oregon, the Minoru Yasui Student Contest offers students the opportunity to explore societal topics in connection with the legacy of Minoru Yasui, the only Oregonian to have been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
This year’s contest theme is responsibility. Students are asked to express their community responsibilities through a visual art piece and artist statement.
The contest has a Junior Division (5th-8th grade) offering a $500 grand prize and Senior Division (9th-12th grade) offering a $1,000 grand prize.
InspiritAI (Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence) is a 25-hour project-based summer AI program that introduces middle/high school students to fundamental AI concepts to build impactful projects across disciplines such as arts and humanities.
This year, fueled by the advances in Generative AI, new projects such as Dall-E: AI and Generative Art and Tiktok Recommendation systems will be featured. The program is taught by Stanford and MIT mentors. No CS experience is necessary.
Field Day is a long-standing annual Kew-Forest tradition. Students from their assigned Red Team or Blue Team compete in various events to determine the ultimate Red Team or Blue Team winner for the school year.
Lower School
LS Field Day will be held at The Overlook at Forest Park. Faculty and students will walk over to the park at 9:00 am. Please make sure your child is at school by 8:30 am. More details here.
Middle & Upper School
MS & US Field Day will be held at Cunningham Park located at 196-10 Union Turnpike, Fresh Meadows, New York, 11366.
Kew-Forest will provide bus service to the park ONLY. Parents will need to collect their child(ren) at 2:15 pm or give permission for their child(ren) to take public transportation (the Q46 & Q76 buses run from Queens Blvd and Union Turnpike to the park).

Each student will receive a small popcorn and beverage. They may purchase additional snacks if they choose.
Students will depart from Kew-Forest around 9:30 am and walk to the movie theater with faculty chaperones. Later, they will return to school where they will have lunch and attend afternoon classes.
For students to attend, parents must complete the permission slip form. Permission forms are due by 12:00 pm on Fri 19 May.

Summer at The Kew-Forest School (5 July to 11 August 2023) provides children entering Kindergarten through Grade 5 with academic enrichment in reading, writing, and mathematics, along with recreational activities including martial arts, drama, dance, STEM, arts and crafts, special events, and more!

SchoolPass campus entry for Lower School students begins today. Preprinted QR codes will be given to students to keep in or attached to their backpacks. The QR codes will be scanned each morning when students arrive.

Professional photographer, Christopher Taggart, and Joseph Moyles, a videographer, will be at Kew- Forest all day taking “A Day in the Life” type photos of our students, faculty, and staff. These photos will be used by the School in the Admissions, Development & Alumni Relations, and the Marketing & Communications departments for the 2023-2024 school year, and beyond.
Here’s what you need to know:
Parents/guardians - please make sure your child(ren) come(s) to school in their academic uniform best.
Faculty/staff - please dress to impress on this day.
Students - please make sure to be in your academic uniform best*.
*NOTE - ALL students must wear their academic uniform even if they have PE class on Wednesday, May 31. PE class will still meet.
Mr. Taggart will be taking photographs on campus from 8:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. and Mr. Moyles will be on campus taking videos from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
