MS/US Field Day at Cunningham Park

Field Day for Middle and Upper School students will occur on Friday, May 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cunningham Park - located at 196-10 Union Turnpike, Fresh Meadows, New York, 11366.

Rain Date
  • This permit was automatically issued on the comparable day Kew-Forest initially requested for 2020, with no option to request changes. The single permit does not allow for a rain date if the weather does not permit us to go to the park that day.
What is Field Day?
  • Field Day is a long-standing annual Kew-Forest tradition where students from their assigned Red Team or Blue Team compete against each other in sporting events to determine the ultimate Red Team or Blue Team winner for the school year. You can find your child’s designated Red Team or Blue Team affiliation here.  This affiliation was assigned when they enrolled at Kew-Forest and stays the same throughout their years at the School.
Who can participate?
  • All students (in-person and remote) are permitted and strongly encouraged to participate in Field Day. Field Day is not mandatory this year. Regularly scheduled classes will not be held for students who choose not to participate in Field Day activities.
Remote students
  • Students who have been learning in the remote environment will need to provide a negative PCR test taken no sooner than Friday, May 14 and due by Thursday May 20. Please email test results to kewforest@kewforest.org.
Transportation
  • Since Kew Forest will not provide bus service to or from the park, parents will need to drop off and pick up their children or allow their children to take public transportation. The Q46 & Q76 busses run from Queens Blvd and Union Turnpike to the park.
  • If your child(ren) will be taking public transportation, you must fill out and sign the Permission Form for Public Transportation Use and return it to kewforest@kewforest.org by Monday, May 17.
Lunch & Beverages
  • Students will be asked through a Google Form survey before Field Day to select a choice of a cold sandwich bagged lunch provided by Cater to You (ordering for Friday, May 21 will not happen through the Nutrislice App).
  • We are asking students to bring their own bottles of water although limited bottled water will also be available.
  • If a student chooses to bring their own lunch, please be mindful of allergens and do not bring any food items that contain nuts.
Dress Code
  • Students are asked to wear their Red Team or Blue Team colors, spirit wear, or gym uniform. As they have been doing all year, all students are required to wear masks during Field Day.
Health Checks & School Policies
  • As with every day of school, all students will need to complete their health checks and will have their temperatures checked upon arrival at the park. In addition, all school rules and policies are in effect at this off-campus school event.
Spectators
  • Parents and spectators will not be permitted to attend Field Day this year as the CDC guidance states that crowds larger than 200 are strictly prohibited.
Mandatory Survey
Please email questions to sgordonsomers@kewforest.org
