Supporting Our Newest Middle Schoolers

To assist our youngest Middle Schoolers in their transition from elementary to middle school, we offer a Study Skills course for Grade 6 students. This course is designed to equip students with the tools they need to manage increasing academic demands as they progress toward Upper School. Through this class, sixth graders learn and practice essential academic skills and routines that sets a strong foundation for future success.

• The first semester focuses on empowering students to become successful independent learners. Through an inquiry into communication, listening and learning styles, note-taking strategies, and organizational skills. students build a strong foundation for academic growth.
• During the second semester, students apply their research to create collaborative projects such as speech presentations, skits, and slide shows. They also engage in peer evaluations, focusing on topics such as planning and prioritization, test preparation, time management, and executive functioning skills.
