Attire for Today

In years past at Kew-Forest, students were able to celebrate Halloween by wearing costumes to school. However, this practice can prove to be exclusionary for those families who don’t recognize this holiday and for children not able to participate. This year, in the spirit of inclusion, students have several options for dress.

Students may:
  • wear costumes (see guidelines below)
  • dress down
  • wear pajamas
  • dress as a favorite book character
  • wear the school uniform
All attire must be appropriate for Preschool to Grade 12.

Please dress respectfully and keep the following expectations in mind:
  • Nothing too scary (please remember, we are a PS/PK - 12 School!), and please, no masks;
  • Nothing that can be construed as demeaning to any person or group based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or to any individual staff or student at the school. Please remember, cultures aren’t costumes;
  • Nothing that contains discriminatory, profane, vulgar, sexually suggestive, obscene, threatening, or libelous language;
  • No weapons, whether physical, fake, implied, or represented in imagery;
  • Nothing that advertises/promotes consumption of alcohol, tobacco, drugs/drug paraphernalia;
  • Does not disrupt or distract the school program as determined by any teacher or administrator.
Please reach out to your Division Head if unsure about appropriateness of dress.
